dvd shows as not ready

I've been burning cd's for quite some time now pretty well but today it's stopped working. I burned a dvd earlier and it went fine. I just tried again and it just tells me that the drive is unavavailable. This has happened with two other drives before. The drive turns on it's detected and it seems to read the discs but once you try to run them it gives me the error any suggestions? I'm running mandrake 9.2 and win xp dual boot Thanks in advanced.
