DVD RW not working in Mandriva 2010.0


i had no prblems with Mandriva 2009.1 with any type of CDs. but recently i installed 2010 on the new machines on office. i am really shocked to find that CD written using XP inbuilt writing software is not mounitng. at the same time i can sccess them using Windows 7 on the same machine.

using dmesg it says that
bad block on sr0

i cant post the full dmesg because iam not using that machine..

any ideas any one??

no definite solution, but maybe try to mount it manually?
are you sure that the CDs are iso9660? could they be udf? try something like
{.> mkdir /mnt/cdrom }
.> mount -t iso9660 /dev/sr0 /mnt/cdrom
.> mount -t udf /dev/sr0 /mnt/cdrom
(mount man page: http://linux.die.net/man/8/mount ; don't mean to be rude, but not all optical medias are made equal)

I was having some cdrom issues and the drives disapearing after a few minutes my solution was to add "noapic" to the kernel. give that a try..

funny part is that UDF medias are mounting easily but it is the disks which are wrote using windows integrated cd burner are having this issue. i haven't tried to manual mount yet.. but i will try and post the results
