DVD-RW drive 'hangs' 2.6.4-ck1 kernel at boottime if no disc in
I recently switched my DVD-ROM drive to LG DVD-RW GSA-4081B and I ran into problem with it. Before that everything was okay, but now when i boot (debian testing w/ custom compiled 2.6.4 core) kernel up, it starts to probe IDE drives normally and kinda hangs when touching my new DVDRAM without disc in. When i say 'hang' i mean it (kernel/drive) tries to read/identify non-existent disc there and since there's no any, it doesn't continue boot procedure, just keeps trying to probe. If i insert any disc before kernel boots, it identifies drive ok and goes on normally.
So what's the prob? I've never seen that kinda behavior before. I'm using devmapper if that helps in any way. System specs: AMD 2200+ K7N2G-ILSR 512M RAM Philips CDRW5224 LG DVD-RW GSA-4081B |
