/dev/sr0 is scsi cdrom, so If your using a scsi cdrom or scsi emulation you will need to use /dev/sr0

the ide-cd module would probably load if it's there and give you access to a cdrom on /dev/hdc

here's an example of diff

[david@zeus david]$ echo testing 123 > oldfile
[david@zeus david]$ echo testing 456 > newfile
[david@zeus david]$ diff oldfile newfile
1c1
< testing 123
---
> testing 456


shows newfile to have testing 123 replaced with testing 456
