DVD-Rom

Hi ppl

Today I just installed my Samsung dvd-rom drive and my BIOS knows it is there and mandrake mounted it. But when I run acidrip it shows it's not there I even went into my /mnt directory and looked in all of the folders but they were all empty I don't even know how Mandrake mounted it all I know is it's /mnt/dvd.

TIA

You need to create a symlink from the actual device name like /dev/hdc to /dev/dvd, and not the /mnt/dvd as dvd's are not mountable, but data cd's are.

I think I explain this in my howto I wrote for acidrip installation under section 3.1, you can find here: http://www.jabentley.com/docs/acidrip-howto.html

configure: error: libdvdread not found!

I'm trying to install acidrip in Fedora Core 4.
So far I've managed to install perl-Gtk2, perl-Glib and libdvdread from rpm.
I have this error at the lsdvd tar.gz directory:
# ./configure
loading cache ./config.cache
checking for a BSD compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c
checking whether build environment is sane... yes
checking whether make sets ${MAKE}... yes
checking for working aclocal-1.4... found
checking for working autoconf... found
checking for working automake-1.4... found
checking for working autoheader... found
checking for working makeinfo... found
checking for gcc... gcc
checking whether the C compiler (gcc -g ) works... yes
checking whether the C compiler (gcc -g ) is a cross-compiler... no
checking whether we are using GNU C... yes
checking whether gcc accepts -g... yes
checking for DVDOpen in -ldvdread... no
configure: error: libdvdread not found!

However
# rpm -qa libdvdread
libdvdread-0.9.4-7.2.fc4.rf

Thanks.

P.S.: Btw, http://www.jabentley.com/docs/acidrip-howto.html is not accessible
