DVD RAM gone.. Can use DVD player????????

Hi friends my DVD ram has gone bad, i think i need to replace the lens..
I have following questions:

1) Can i change the lens at my own at home???

2)For time being can i use my DVD player as a DVD ROM..plz temme is this is possible..

You aren't going to be replacing the lens in the drive, just forget about that right now.

As for the other question...are you asking if you can use a stand-alone DVD player as a drive in your computer?

the answer no is not possible what i have learnt frm my experiences is that everthing is possible either the solution can be such that it would be completely out of sense to do that..but it is possible..
