Hi
I would like to know what are you experiences with DVD-RAMs, especially in terms of writing speed. It's so slooooooww for me
I bought a few DVD-RAMs for using them for backups. I use them in packet writing mode(or whatever it is called) i.e. simply mounting them like normal hard discs. To my surprise that worked fine out of the box!

However, it's painfully slow! Copying files onto it happens with maybe 300KB/s. While AFAICS it should happen at 3x with ~4MB/s. Or at least a _bit_ faster, at the moment this is far away from even 1x!
So, anyone using that at a normal speed??
My writer is LG GSA-4163B, firmware A104.
My kernel is 2.6.8, std. Debian Sarge.
The writer spec says 5x for DVD-RAM, the media are 3x.
