dvd need to hook up
 
ok i am runing mandrake 10.0 with 256m ram 32m vidio card ram geforce 2

my lg 16x dvd rom drive (in master slot ide 1)is not working It worked under anther mandrake 10.0 install (i had to wipe my hdd) and it still works i windows

i also have a cd-romrw drive as slave it works fine

tell me if you need more info i will open my case to find out the modle, serial, vreson, ect.

o sorry i didn't elabrate it is not acpting any type of media and i don't think it is mounted even tho there is foler named cd-rom1 in /mnt

Linux is different than Windows. In order for you to use a cdrom, you have to mount it first.

Assuming /dev/hdc is your DVD drive, as root or su type "mount -t auto -o unhide /dev/hdc /mnt/cdrom1". The filesystem auto will tell the kernel to automatically detect the filesystem. It could be UDF (for DVD recordable discs) or iso9660 (for CD). Run dmesg to figure out the real device location for your DVD drive. After you know what device it is, you may want to update /etc/fstab.

Linux can not mount audio CD, so you need an audio CD player program like xmms, mplayer, vlc, and many others.

You do not need to open your case to gather model, serial number, and other specs of the drive because the /proc directory will give you the information.

i know linux can't mount autio i get no such device or soming tike that
i have a burned disk in witch has a iso fie on it (xp.iso)
