DVD Burner backup

Has anyone tried using a Plextor PX-504A DVD Burner as a backup on a Redhat 8.0 or other distribution? If so what driver software did you use for it? Gear Software has Gear Pro Linux. Is there any freebie download driver available that could work? If so does t work well?

I've had the best luck with xcdroast. There is a great howto on how to get one working.

But in one of my other posts I described how I got mine set up. http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...004#post531004

Try Mondo Rescue (www.mondorescue.com).

It will create a bootable CD/DVD which you can use to restore your system in a snap, including partitioning, RAID, LVM, SCSI, and everything you have running.

You can also change things like partitioning before the restore begins (if you have a new, bigger harddisk).
