DVD and Mplayer

I have installed Mplayer on my Shuttle XPC running Fedora 3. While the DVD mounts and is visible on the desktop, when I attemtp to load the DVD into MPlayer I get the following message:

error opening/initializing video_out (-vo) device

Has anyone any idea what this means and what steps should I take to have MPLAYER load the DVD. I should mention the DVD drive plays perfectly within Windows XP on my dual boot machine.

Maybe MPlayer is not configured to point to the right device. Check the device name of your dvd rom drive and make sure Mplayer is configured to use that particular device.
