DVD's with Mplayer

When i try to play a DVD...it says cannot load /dev/dvd im not sure what i need to do to get my dvd rom to play my dvds...anyone with experience, help out?

I had the same problem. Check in /dev to make sure there is a "dvd" in there, I didn't. I had to create a link from /dev/hdd (which is my dvd).

thanks...all i had to do was change my /etc/fstab and make the dvd rom mount to /dev/dvd

=)

FYI...

Here's what probably happened...

Your distro saw that you wanted to have a /dev/dvd and was aware of which device was your DVDROM so it simply made the symlink for you. Why? Because Mplayer doesn't mount a dvd when it plays it.
