DVB-T driver for dongle RTL2832U + R820T + DAB

Hi, I bought this DVB-T dongle but I cannot make it work. It is exactly this device http://www.dx.com/p/rtl2832u-r820t-m...-silver-218228 "RTL2832U + R820T Mini DVB-T + DAB+ + FM USB Digital TV Dongle"

I've tried some tutorials but no luck. I want to use it with vlc, xbmc or mplayer.

Can you give me some tips?

Code:
$ lsusb | grep DVB
Bus 002 Device 009: ID 0bda:2838 Realtek Semiconductor Corp. RTL2838 DVB-T

I try to provide some information but I don't know what's important.

http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/LinuxTV_dvb-apps
http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.ph...our_DVB_device
Also fire up google, lots of info on this. Get your firmware working first.

You will need to scan to make a channels.conf first for mplayer.
http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Scan
http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Dvbscan

After you have a ~/.mplayer/channels.conf
Code:
mplayer dvb://
Or for a particular channel
Code:
mplayer dvb://WNBC
After you have your device working, post your questions about how to script mplayer to play and record TV streams.
Also search LQ. This has been talked about many times.

You don't have to use mplayer. There are a dozen ways to play/record dvb streams such as.
Code:
azap -r -c /home/user/.mplayer/channels.conf WABC
Code:
cat /dev/dvb/adapter0/dvr0 > MyShow.ts
There is also a little signal meter named femon that work well and is scriptable.

Looks like your hardware works. You are scanning with a known good antenna hooked to the device?
Those small antennas that come with tuners don't do much.
You might look too see if there is someone that has a channels list for your part of Poland.

If your television won't get the station on an antenna then your device won't be able to either.
You can make a homemade UHF antenna for cheep. I've made these and they work ok.
The Hoverman design is ok but I have had better results with a bowtie.
http://www.diytvantennas.com/index.php
http://www.casano.com/projects/hoverman/

4 bay bowtie antennas work fine for UHF out to maybe 50 miles. Depends on where you put it. If you can get it into the attic it will work better.
I made a modified version of a 4 bay bowtie with 10 inch elements, 5 inch spacing at end of bowtie, 9 1/2 inch spacing of elements, phase lines 1 3/8 inches apart. fed from the middle with a balun.
That brought the center resonant frequency down far enough that I am able to get VHF channel 9 (189 Mhz). It has poorer gain at upper UHF (600 Mhz) but those stations are closer so I can still get them even though it's not ideal for them.
Quick search.
http://scaryreasoner.wordpress.com/2...-tv-reception/
This will be directional because of the reflector.
http://uhfhdtvantenna.blogspot.com/
http://www.happy-monkey.net/dtv-antenna/
http://www.tvantennaplans.com/

A TV Log Periodic Antenna made from 2x2 wood and clothes hangers works better but is very directional.

A loop antenna often shows good gain with VHF frequencies.

Point is that you can make a good TV antenna with a max gain tuned to the frequency that you wish to receive out of 2x4 wood and Wire. That is indoor of course.

http://www.avsforum.com/forum/25-hdt...tenna-128.html

Also look on youtube for homemade antennas.
