Duron Help... Anyone Can Answer
I bought this motherboard and a Duron from a computer vendor. he said they would be compatible but the computer wouldn't boot. After reading the ASUS website it appears that they might not be. I have a Duron 800Mhz and a A7V400-MX Motherboard http://au.asus.com/prog/spec.asp?m=A7V400-MX&langs=25. It supports socket A but the website says only Athlon XP Barton and Throughbred cores, does this mean that it does not support any other socket A processors. I'm just posting here so i can make sure i'm right before taking this up with the vendor. Thanks in Advance.
I would think that it needs a bios update. I worked retail computer sales for a while, and anytime a new AMD cpu came out, ASUS MoBo's needed a bios update to even post with the new cpu.

are your sure they work together, this is a brand new motherboard (and the duron is very old). Every other board on the ASUS websites says it supports Duron but this one only says Barton and Throughbred cores.
