Dual Processor Server

Hi All,

I have a dual processor 64bit xeon server.

I need assistance on the following

1. I want to install fedora core 2 on this system. How do I about this?
2. Is there a wiki where I can read up on dual processor technology?
3. On a dual processor linux system, what would happen if one of the processors fail.
4. Would a 32bit application run on a 64bit xeon processor?

Rgds

1. Why FC2? It is no longer supported. Even FC4 has gone into legacy status. I would suggest FC5 or if you want really stable Centos. Whatever the choice, download iso, burn them and install.

2. Google is your friend.

3. Good Question.

4. All intel (not sure about italium?) and Amd 64 bit processors will run 32bit and for just starting out it is advised.

Hi Lazlow,

Do I need to do anything anything fancy to install on the dual processor system or just simply install as if on a single processor system.

Just install normally. The only real difference is the kernel is should install will have a smp (symmetric multi processor I think). I run an x2 3800+ no problem.
