Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Exclamation Dual Monitor Text Console

My friend just recently setup three monitors on his linux box (RedHat 9, Fedora Core 1) and I'm thinking about doing the same after I get some monitors my question is:

* Is it possible to have one monitor dedicated to X-Windows and have another monitor show a text console (e.g. plain text console) that would be controlled by another keyboard, on a dual monitor setup.
* Is it possible to load AGP, OpenGL drivers on just one card or several?
* Is it possible to reroute messages (from dmesg, kernel messages, messages from programs) from one monitor to a text console on another?

If you know how or know of site that talks about this please leave your how-tos, links, or feel free to email it and I'll post it on my brinkster site.

Please do not mention the Xinerama site (http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/Xinerama-HOWTO/) for most of these questions.. I already look at it and it doesn't tell much (other than to setup X-Windows). Maybe there is a simpler site? Or a more advance site?

(Btw, is Debain ever going to get past 3.0r1? its installer sucks maybe have Fedora switch to deb?)

Thanks
Dave

While those would all be nice things to do, I've been running dual monitors now for about 2 to 3 years...As far as I know.

I vaguely recall something about #1, so, since I'm not 100% positive on it, No.

#2, Yes, this is under your Device Section in your /etc/X11/XF86Config file, you're looking for Driver.

#3, Since this is partially related to a sectioned question from #1, the answer is No. However, you can, with an option I don't remember, and will leave to you to noodle through, you can open an xterm window such that all "console" message print to it. (Ok, the option is -C )
