Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Dual Monitor On-the-Fly Switch

I was wondering if it is possible to create something to have a dual monitor setup and on the fly, switch to have xorg.conf work with my widescreen television. I have an Nvidia dual output videocard and it also has an s-video output. Is it possible to do this. So I can turn off a second monitor and go over to my television for a display. Without having to reboot.

My ati card only recognized displays that were connected on boot, so you might have problems there. I would think that you could just set the svideo to mirror the output from one of the other outputs. Otherwise, you will need to have two xorg.conf files and switch between them and restart the x server (CTRL+ALT+BKSP). I wrote two shell scripts to switch mine between tripple head mode and single head with dri mode.
Just save two configs (xorg.conf.svid and xorg.conf.dual) and copy one of them to xorg.conf and restart x when you want to switch to that mode.

Can I take a look at your triple head config file? I am sure it would probobaly be something similar for nvidia settings.
