Dual Monitor Display works until xinerama is turned on for most new distros

Hi,

Okay, so my dual display works until i turn xinerama on - then it just crashes on ubuntu 8.04. I've tried tons of distributions, pclinux works, knoppix 5.1 works, 5.3 doesn't. the current debian works, elive doesn't. Sabayon works. Works meaning xinerama works properly, doesn't working means dual display works until xinerama is enabled. with ubuntu, on the secondary monitor it will display some dll message and the other monitor will flash black and try to load, then flash back again. Is there any reason for this?

My ideas:
In 5.3.1 knoppix is compiz-fusion, can that be what's causing the issue. I'm running 2 separate video cards, and old agp radeon, and an old pci nvidia
