Dual Monitor display???????HELP

Hi everybody!

I posted this message couple times I will post it again, maybe somebody can help me out.
I can get my laptop to have a desktop spanned over the built-in lcd and the additional monitor hook to the svga output.
It is a laptop Toshiba with a Ati Rage Pro LT and runs MAndrake 9.0
Searching the net I found how-tos only for dual head video cards or 2 videocards settings (not my case). :-(
This is what lspci lists :

00:00.0 Host bridge: Acer Laboratories Inc. [ALi] M1541 (rev 04)
00:01.0 PCI bridge: Acer Laboratories Inc. [ALi] M1541 PCI to AGP Controller (rev 04)
00:04.0 CardBus bridge: Texas Instruments PCI1225 (rev 01)
00:04.1 CardBus bridge: Texas Instruments PCI1225 (rev 01)
00:07.0 ISA bridge: Acer Laboratories Inc. [ALi] M1533 PCI to ISA Bridge [Aladdin IV] (rev 0a)
00:08.0 Multimedia audio controller: Cirrus Logic Crystal CS4281 PCI Audio (rev 01)
00:0f.0 IDE interface: Acer Laboratories Inc. [ALi] M5229 IDE (rev 20)
00:10.0 Communication controller: Rockwell International HSF 56k Data/Fax Modem (rev 01)
00:11.0 Bridge: Acer Laboratories Inc. [ALi] M7101 PMU (rev 09)
00:13.0 USB Controller: Acer Laboratories Inc. [ALi] USB 1.1 Controller (rev 03)
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc 3D Rage LT Pro AGP-133 (rev dc)

I tried all the device combinations with XConfig-4, but I ussually get an error message saying that it can not assign 2 devices to the same hardware.
Does "ati" driver supports spanned desktops ? Do I have to add some secret "options" ?

Thanks,
m_m
