Dual monitor desktop- simple question

Hello all.

I got a dual monitor setup under suse 9, with an AIW9700 as the primary and an nvidia PCI RIVA Tnt2 as secondary. I set it p with xinerama supportfrom sax2. It works fine, just one question- is it possible to have different background images on each monitor? Right now it stretches/distrots the image across both monitors.
Thanks.

Not in the way you are thinking, no. Because it is all visualized as one display. Your best option is to splice an image together. This is the default behaviour of Xinerama, and to be honest, it's probably how most people want it. More application compatibility. If it DID discern between the two, then your windows won't properly spread across the displays, and you'll have other fun problems. I run between 3 and 9 monitors, depending on which system I'm on. I have been building a collection of wallpapers suited to multiple monitors. PM me if you're interested in them.
