Dual monitor configuration in Xorg 1.5.2 (Ubuntu 8.10)

I just upgraded, and I have lost dual monitor support. Apparently there have been changes in how xorg is configured in the latest version? I've read that xorg.conf is no longer used, but I haven't seen any tutorials on what to do with the new version.

Hardware: intel on-board i810 video, nvidia GeForce2 MX200 pci video card. I *don't* need 3d, so I would be happy just to get the free nv driver working. The nvidia card works if I set it as my primary display device, but I don't get any useful information from xorg.conf that I can use to set up dual monitors.

I should have an "nv" module, right? "modprobe nv" tells me module not found. I do, however, have xserver-xorg-video-nv installed, and that's the only package that looks to be non-proprietary.

If anyone can point me to anything that might help me, I would appreciate it. It appears that all of the old tutorials about setting up dual monitors are suddenly outdated (according to what I have read), so I don't know where to start.

No, *buntu-8.10 will follow xorg.conf
Simply put in your custom settings there.

(take a look into your older xorg files)

Alas, it was because my old xorg.conf didn't work that I knew there was a problem. I get nothing but a blank screen (or two blank screens, I guess).
