I purchased a DTV-2go digital USB TV card and tuner for my laptop (Dell D505). When I lsusb I get "Avermedia, again" in SuSE10 OSS. I selected an Avermedia tuner in YaST.
When I try to run motv I get error 'This is motv-3.94, running on Linux/i686 (2.6.13-15.13-default)
Warning: Actions not found: Remote
Warning: Actions not found: Remote'
With xawtv I get 'This is xawtv-3.94, running on Linux/i686 (2.6.13-15.13-default)
Segmentation fault' They both are started as an ordinary user.
With kdetv the application runs but I get a black screen. I'm also not sure what tuner to use either with the supplied tuner, or using a direct connection to the coaxial cable for a cable outlet for an antenna on the roof of the building for all the units in the block. It is not 'cable' TV but 'free to air' TV (PAL).
I have been unable to determine from the Body Corporate just what is installed for an antennae and if it does digital signals or not. My flatmate is an elec. engineer and he could not get his PC PCI TV card working with linux, only Windows 2000.
Any help on this appreciated! I also have Fedora Core 5 on another PC.
Thanks for the quick reply. I have installed anything that sounds useful, including libdvdread and dvb. I already had installed a lot of other programs when I did the multimedia stuff (including xine and xine-lib etc), and have mplayer working and am able to play DVD movies in kaffeine and watch apple trailers using mplayer. Can you be a bit more specific. I agree 'segmentation fault' error does have something to do with software usually. I was hoping that installing programs such as xawtv and motv and kdetv would resolve any dependency problems. I am using SuSE10 and YaST to install these. In the meantime before your reply I also amused myself by upgrading and customising the kernel to 2.6.19 from 2.6.13.15, in case there was a problem there. USB devices have always been detected ok, just to make sure v4l and ir working in kernel.
