DSL Internal Modem

Hi,

I have an Internal DSL Modem with an Itex i90188F chip from Recsol. I have always installed Linux on PCs with network card, never with this kind of modem.

Does anyone knows how I should go about doing this?

If this is not going to work, I will resign to using a 56K modem, again, as a newbie, I do not know how to go about installign a modem. The modem present on the PC is a PCtel modem. If this is not going to work, I will install an other modem, as long as I know the steps - or a link where I can find out ...

Cheers!

As far as the dsl modem goes...

Wow, amazed this is supported, it took some googling, but it seems that Itex became Pulsar and sold the same chipset... so, these drivers may or may not work:

If you're using a newer distro like RH9, Mandy 9.x, SuSe 8.1/2, Slack 9, but not any Debian aside from Unstable, then you should get the gcc 3.xx version.

As far as the regular old winmodem:

Is a pretty good place to start on tracking down drivers, like the Itex, which chipset is what counts most.

Cheers,
