drivers seem like the big issue with linux...why???
Lets just say, if I cannot get online to get the drivers I need, is it possible to load the drivers from a CD-RW? And how do I do it?

drivers big issue for linux because... A: not all vendors admit that enough users use their products with linux and thus don't create their own drivers... meaning the community has to write them. B: depending on the hardware how drivers are handled may differ... you can get drivers from online, from cdrw, from floppy... doesn't matter.
C: what do you need drivers for?

most of th device driver are open source and writen by kernel hackers or people who pissed of and write their own but it is a job for vendor so if you have a new expensive video card and vendor did not provide you the driver you nearly have no luck for it to work under linux except vesa and other generic dirvers.

I need drivers for my video card (GeForce MX420) and I am not for sure yet but maybe my mainboard (MSI KT4 Ultra). I am a little concerned that I wont get a hook up so I am preparing to put the drivers on a CDRW.
How do I mount the drivers from the CD?
Also, would I need drivers for my Audigy X- Gamer?

Ok. Now we have established where to get them (Thank you). But when I save them on a CD-RW, how do I install them from the CD?

Wow, that was a detailed response. Thanks! Are they the same commands for other distos like Mandrake 9 and Yoper?

It depends upon the commands you are referring to.
Most commands are basic bash commands. See link in my sig.
Distros/programs may have additional commands for setting up networking, handling packages, etc.
