Driver NVIDIA installed but changes nothing

Hi,

I just installed Fedora Core 4 (full install) and my first task was to install the Nvidia driver which i managed to do.

The problem is, since it is installed, nothing has change at all, and particularly, I am still limited to choose between 800*600 and 640*480 for my screen resolution.

Here's what I did:

I exited the x mode (init 3)
I installed the driver (it worked perfectly)
I typed : modprobe nvidia
I commented in xorg.conf load "dri"
I replaced in the same file "nv" by "nvidia"
I restarted everything and rebooted a couple of times.

When Fedora starts, I do see the nvidia logo.

Something strange happened once. After I commented the load "dri" line, I rebooted, and the same line appeared uncommented under the commented one. It happened only once. I deleted it of course.

Any idea about what's going on?

Thank you

Extra screen resolutions are made available by adding them to the "Screen" section like this.
Code:
Section "Screen"
        Identifier "Screen_0"
        Device "0-NV420"
        Monitor "External"
        DefaultDepth 24
        SubSection "Display"
                Depth 24
                Modes "1280x1024" "1152x864" "1024x768" "800x600"
                ViewPort 0 0
        EndSubSection
        SubSection "Display"
                Depth 16
                Modes "1280x1024" "1152x864" "1024x768" "800x600"
                ViewPort 0 0
        EndSubSection
EndSection
