Driver for Dell v313

HI there. This is my second try with Linux and I am discouraged by the complexity of installing things; just not like Windows. The first time I had Ubuntu. Now Linux Mint 11. Trying to find a driver for Dell v313w. They have a driver for Suse Linux 11, which does not work. Somehow the 'installer' complains about not being able to read the characterset. Silly. Ubuntu 9 extracts, but it returns an error. Guess there is no suitable printer driver for my v313. Has anyone run into this? The printer is not wireless or wired. Just USB connection. When I attach it (plug in the USB), it gives me a choice of printers, but again nothing is found under Dell either. Thanks in advance.

According to this, you should at least have USB connection. You might need to browse for the appropriate *.ppd file. But there's good instructions in the README.

NOTE: I don't have one of these printers and haven't tried it.

thanks, pljvaldez. Being new to Linux, these instructions aren't all that clear. It talks about finding a ppd file in the folder /usr/dellinkjet/dell09/etc
How do I access that folder? Is it on MY system? When I did it in 'terminal' it didn't know what I was talking about.
Also, my main concern is I figured out that the driver available is a i386 driver. My system is 64bit. So it gives me an error message after it starts the extraction. Now in Windows, the system automatically adjusts to 32bit apps. Why can't Linux Mint? That puzzles me.
