DPT Driver

Hi folks,

I'm trying to install the Adaptec 3200S on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3. The SCSI drivers were loaded during the installation of RHEL. After installation i progressed towards installing the Raid Manager. Unfortunately I have only found a version compatible with Red Hat 7.2 kernels - When i tried to install the Raid Manager RPM, the system prompted my that 'dptdriver' was needed by 'dptapps'. Therefore I searched through the internet and found a 'dptdriver' which I tried to install on RHEL - the RPM installed but there were some errors similar to this:

PROBLEM:
No prebuilt module for 2.4.21-9.ELsmp

Logically this error showed that although the RPM was installed (confirmed by querying the RPM database), it was not compatible with my kernel.

Anyways, I proceeded to retry to install again the Raim Manager and to my dismay it prompted me with the same error msg: 'dptdriver' is needed by 'dptapps-3.14-2', although the former was installed...

Can someone illuminate me on these issues, especially the last one?

Thanks,
ganninu

Hey Ganninu...I am having the same thing going on. I need to setup these utilities to check on a client's alarm. His lights all show go (RAID 5) but his alarm is going strong...for over a week now! The adaptec utility in <cntrl>a is too cumbersome to use over the phone (when you use it as much as I do=never) and I cannot get the rpm to load = dptapps needed.

My instruction, though, say that you need to include the postscript: rpm -hvi <path to rpm>/dptapps*

Now, I have no idea what this means and I have no experience with this, but I thought I would split out what I did have and see what you thought about it.
Good luck and if all else fails, throw the thing out the window.
