Angry DPMS Not Working On My ProSavage

I can't get DPMS to work on the SavagePro video chip, I need it to turn off a LCD backlight.

I'm running Redhat 7.2, with a kernel 2.4.7-10 and XFree 4.3.0.

Here is some data that may help:-

[root@hrctft root]# /sbin/lspci
00:00.0 Host bridge: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT8605 [ProSavage PM133]
00:01.0 PCI bridge: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT8605 [PM133 AGP]
00:07.0 ISA bridge: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT82C686 [Apollo Super South] (rev 40)
00:07.1 IDE interface: VIA Technologies, Inc. Bus Master IDE (rev 06)
00:07.2 USB Controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. UHCI USB (rev 1a)
00:07.4 Bridge: VIA Technologies, Inc. VT82C686 [Apollo Super ACPI] (rev 40)
00:07.5 Multimedia audio controller: VIA Technologies, Inc. AC97 Audio Controller (rev 50)
00:0d.0 CardBus bridge: Ricoh Co Ltd RL5c478 (rev 80)
00:0d.1 CardBus bridge: Ricoh Co Ltd RL5c478 (rev 80)
00:0e.0 Ethernet controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL-8139 (rev 10)
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: S3 Inc.: Unknown device 8d01 (rev 02)

This is what's in my XF86Config, from when I did and 'X -configure'
Section "Device"
Identifier "ProSavage"
Driver "savage"
VendorName "S3 Inc."
BoardName "86C380 [ProSavageDDR K4M266]"
BusID "PCI:1:0:0"

And I've got the Option "DPMS" line in the monitor section.

I hope someone can help??
