does this sound blaster use alsa module emu10k1?

Hey all,

I am very confused about this sound blaster card. I purchased it for $30 from Comp USA and have not opened it yet, because I want a card that uses the emu10k1 module since it is very well developed.

The card I purchased was the:
Creative Sound Blaster Live! 24-bit 7.1/6.1/5.1 SB0410 70SB041000000

I believe this is the same card as this on newegg:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16829102176

Newegg does not show it as having the emu10k1 chipset, but instead shows this card as having the emu10k1 chipset:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16829102177
It has a different part number: 30SB041000000.

All i want is a sound blaster card that uses the emu10k1 chipset. Can someone verify which of these two cards actually uses the emu10k1 chipset, and can verify that they will in fact use the emu10k1 alsa module?

Thanks!
George

Take a look here:

And in the case it's not compatible with emu10k1 chipset, look in this thread:

Regards!

i cannot "chance" it, i need to know if the one i bought is emu10k1 or not

i can't tell by that alsa matrix

i already have a non-emu10k1 sound blaster card, and i tried using ca0106 module but it is horrible, i can only get mono output

That could be tricky. Perhaps Creative Labs could give you some assistence?

I have a SoundBlaster Audigy Platinum that I got about 4 years ago.....it has an emu10k1 module......my guess would be that if Creative Labs bothered to release a 24-bit version of the SB Live then they would have added emu10k1.
