Does the Asus P8CWS BIOS support Trusted Execution?

When running a vmware VM for the first time the system refuses to start giving two reasons:

1. VT-x support missing
OR
2. Trusted Execution must be disabled

The first was resolved easily by enabling it in the BIOS settings.

The second, there seems to be no BIOS setting for. But vmware works happily just by enabling VT-x therefore if a setting exists for Trusted Execution, it is disabled by default.

Can't find anything in the mobo manual about "Trusted Execution", does it appear under a different name? The CPU supports it (see this), but what about the mobo?

So does the vmware VM work now? Your statement for not working is:
Quote:
1. VT-x support missing
OR
2. Trusted Execution must be disabled
It reads as only one reason and you sorted the VT-x support in the BIOS.

Sorry for the confusion, vmware works alright, but I want to know if trusted execution is supported just out of interest. It seems a good security enhancement, when vmware is NOT used.

Aah... I understand. I think your original findings are correct. The trusted execution is a function of the processor, not the Mobo. If you haven't got a suitable processor installed, you ain't playing.

But the cpu does support trusted execution, as shown in the link. If it were just a function of the cpu, then vmware would not work. Because vmware's error message gave the additional information that for vmware to work, trusted execution must not be supported or supported but not enabled.

This is a general statement created by vmware & it's just telling you it's either this or that.
As far as the trusted execution it is only in the cpu not the bios.
Trusted Execution Techology started out in the Xeon or server cpu's & has been built in the latest generation of intel processors.

Then what is an example of a free app or demo for trusted execution?
