Does SuSe 8.0 support Asus A7V333 and Asus V7100 Magic GeForce 2?
I'm planning to install SuSe 8.0 on a system using the AMD Athlon XP mounted on the Asus A7V333 MB.

(1) I heard SuSe has some problems with the 'MPTable 1.4 Support', is that true? And, what is that MPTable 1.4 anyway?

(2) I was also told that I need to set the function of Plug and Play OS to "NO" in the BIOS so that everything can be detected during installation, is that correst?

(3) Will SuSe 8.0 support the Asus V7100 Magic GeForce2 video card?

Hi chansky,

I think that for your first and third questions your best bet is to search and ask the people at SuSE. They are the first ones to know of any compatibility issues with their product. Although, there may be someone in this site to answer your question don't rule out the chance to ask SuSE. On your second question, the reason the PnP option is set to NO is so that instead of the OS initializes the devices is BIOS who does that and Linux recognizes them.

Hope this helps.
Good luck!

hi Chansky,
The answer to you 2nd question. I dot think so I have installed Suse with the PNP OS on. All my hardware except the modem was auto detected. Anyway my modem is a cheap windmoden, i dont even use it so who cares.

Coming to your 3rd question. I have a Gefroce3 working properly. Geforce 2 or Geforce 3 all use the same driver. The default XFree86 deriver is "nv" it does not support 3d accl. But Suse installer will tell you to install the "nvidia" ( this one has 3d accl) drivers and the kernel modules, and YaSt2 will do this for you.
