Does New SuSe 9.1 Have scanner drivers

I am curious to know if SuSe 9.1 will have scanner drivers and if so , for which models and manufacturers? Will that incluse a parallel Scanner made by Viviscan?:newbie:

you can check that out at the SuSE internet site (try www.suse.com) There you can see wether your scanner is supported.

hello,

suse 9.1 will certainly be bundled with drivers for many scanners; however, the issue of individual model support has less to do with suse and more to do with the efforts of the open-source community as a whole. to wit, if a driver isn't available, then none of the major distros are likely to offer support - your best bet is to do some googling!

in my case, i struggled for ages trying to persuade a primax scanner to work, for which a driver was available but which required patching of modules etc.. in the end, i gave up and bought a relatively cheap epson unit which worked fine, out of the box, with no messing around..
