does alesis multimix 8 usb work?

i have ubuntu 6.10 edgy installed.

ALSA works with my audiocard except for mic. so i've decided to try out my alesis multimix 8 usb mixer.

here's the output from lsusb.

Bus 004 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 002 Device 003: ID 08bb:2900 Texas Instruments Japan #this is the mixer
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000

here's the bottom output from dmesg with the usb unplugged.

Code:

[17180791.252000] input: Burr-Brown from TI              USB Audio CODEC  as /class/input/input4

[17180927.264000] usb 2-1: USB disconnect, address 3

here it is with it plugged in.

Code:

[17180952.776000] usb 2-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
[17180952.784000] input: Burr-Brown from TI              USB Audio CODEC  as /class/input/input5
[17180952.784000] input: USB HID v1.00 Device [Burr-Brown from TI              USB Audio CODEC ] on usb-0000:00:1d.0-1

is there something i'm missing so i can use this mixer with audio recording apps?

this mixer is plug n' play on mac and windows, no drivers required.

thanks for any help and i'll post any additional info if needed.
