dod cac reader for logging in to ubuntu 9.04

Trying to get my cac card to work for my log on insted of a password.
I followed all the steps to get the cac to work on ako. That is working just fine. I also can get the cac pin box to show up at log on also.

If i do not enter a user name and hit enter I am prompted with the pin for the cac, I enter the pin hit enter then it asks for the password. I then put in the password hit enter then it asks for the pin again. I enter the pin and then it logs on. Also there is a web site mentioned in that wiki that will not allow me access to get a needed file. the url is as follows:
wget --no-check-certificate https://airborne.nrl.navy.mil/PKI/AllDoDPKI.tar.gz

the url for the wiki is as follows:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/CommonAccessCard

any help will be great
Let me know what screen shots you need to help me out.

Same Behavior Here

Hey there,

I have only just followed the steps mentioned in the Ubuntu site mentioned above yesterday, but I have the same two general questions that you have.

Let me know if you find anything out.

Mike

As of today I have not found any solution to it. There is a link that was posted in that how to that requires privileges that we do not have. I believe that the provided link has the files that are needed to make a cac log on work.

I have had a member of this site inform that there is more work involved than what is posted on ubuntu. It may require the use of a dedicated server and some i.t. people to configure the software for that to work.

As far as logging onto AKO it works fine. also I was able to set the sudo su command to require cac which worked fine in my oppion. I did that through editing some files in the etc directory; I have forgotten whitch files they are. I did find the info in a forum that was returned by google.

At this time I would hold out to see what ubuntu 0410 has in store for cac users who want cac authentication at log on time. I would like to petition the developers to add such support for military folks accross the board, I just do not have the time to do so.

I hope this answers your questions, any other questions just ask. Unfortunately their is not a whole lot of info out there yet on this topic since it is still new to linux.
