Do you need SCSI for digital camera?

Hi, I've recently bought a Fuji FinePix 3800. I am able to use this on my Windows box, but would prefer to use it on my Linux box, because my Linux box has better hardware. From what I've read, in most situations, it works with usb-storage ( ? ) .

However, the method used for usb-storage uses /dev/sda1 (a scsi device). I have no scsi support compiled into my kernel (it's 2.6, I can use atapi burning), and my kernel is already quite large. Is it possible to not use scsi for this module? I've compiled and modprobe'd it (without the camera connected) without any errors.

Thanks!

EDIT: do I need Video4Linux enabled in my kernel?

a camera can typically be accessed in a number of ways, as a scsi device and/or as a video device. for the first, yes you will require scsi support, but you can always compile it as a module without concern. for the second, for webcam functionality etc... then that would require v4l2 or v4l.
