do nvidias nforce2 and ati's radeon series get along ?

Hey all,

I've recently purchased a nforce2 board but have not yet bought a new video card. I've heard of some people running mandrake who have had problems getting the ati proprietary drivers running with nvidias mobo drivers. I think it was a GART issue of some kind. Does anyone have glx working properly with this combo, and does it work reasonably well for that configuration ?

Thanks in advance,
Kilka

My Nforce2 and Radeon 9800 non-pro work fine together on the 2.4.22 kernel (slackware 9.1), the only issue I had was using the driver's internal gart, I had to switch to the kernel agpgart module. I think older kernels need to be patched first to get the external agpgart to work the nforce2.

A good forum for ATI and linux is at: http://www.rage3d.com/board/forumdis...?s=&forumid=61

I finally managed to make it work. I wrote some details on it when I reviewed the ASUS A7N8X here

np. Let us know how it goes. I updated the link in that review last night. I had to recompile my kernel, and when I went to reinstall the vid card drivers I had to use that page and I realized that wasn't actually the page I used. Here is the correct link to a post by crazydutchman. A very nice step by step
