dm-crypt pci hardware accelerator ?

I run a small server, which run dm-cypt/luks, but unfortunately with very poor performance, and high CPU utilization.

Does there exist a hardware accelerator which can take off the load ?
Changing CPU (with AES-NI) is unfortunately not an option.

Sorry for so late a reply.

dm_crypt/LUKS adds very little overhead to a system. Have you identified (though "top" or so) exactly what process are using hihg CPU? I very much doubt it would be related to dm_crypt/LUKS.

Sorry, I can't help with any hardware solution. Normally such a thing would not be necessary.
Good luck!

Hi,

I cannot remember the exact processe names, since this post is rather old, but YES it is defiantly the issue, since encryption requires a little more power than a lower power computer can give. :)

Thanks for replying though.
