DP-300U

Old post but I'm in the same situation. This is what I learned:

- Some DP-300U can have the firmware updated to support IPP, mine can't (sigh). See if you have UPDATE FIRMWARE under the tools tab whe you log into the server

If there is another way, let me know, I'm going to keep working on it. More I work more I learn.

Bye

The DP-300U seems to work fine in Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy Heron).

Install it using Gnome's printer configuration utility (under system/administration) by selecting "LPD/LPR Host or Printer", then enter the DP-300U's IP address and the name of the queue. The queue name is the same as the port name which you can check by logging into the print server using your browser; look at the server's System/Configuration tab. I believe this is case-sensitive.

Then enter the printer manufacturer & driver info when prompted.

When done, the uri for the printer entry in Gnome printer configuration (and in CUPS printer administration) should look something like:
lpd://192.168.0.10/PS-******-P2 where ******are the last 6 digits of the server's mac address and P2 indicates the printer is connected to the servers' 2nd parallel port.
