DIY - disk array
Howdy,
I am toying with the idea of building a DIY disk array in another case to my main system. I have 5x 9GB scsi disks and an old atx mini tower that I can butcher. I can get hold of an external scsi lead (68pin male-male) and a "blanking plate" that does the conversion from 68pin female to ribbon cable. I am a bit stuck about what to do about the power supply as the box will have no motherboard in it. I have in the past bridged 2 of the multiplug contacts to test that a broken PC wasn't due to a bust power supply but I an dubious about running the psu long term with no load on the motherboard circuit?? Anybody know of folks who have tried this before ( and not burnt their house down )? Any ideas comments etc would be welcome. Ta Ian |
