distro for HP Slate 500

I have an old HP Slate 500, touchscreen. I was able to install Mint & it works well but Mint is not meant for a touchscreen (unless I get incredibly pinpointed fingertips). Is there a distro that would work better with the 500? I think Android might work, if it works with the ancient hardware.
Any suggestions?
TIA
Merl

In most cases the hardware drivers (e. g. touch screen drivers) are part of Linux kernel. Meaning you can enable them for any distro by re-configuring the kernel.

Hi Emerson;
Thanks for the response but the touchscreen is not the problem (it does work well), the size of the items to pick is the problem. Everything in standard Linux distributions is meant to be picked by a tiny cursor not a fat finger.
I guess to be REALLY specific is there a version of Android that works with such ancient architecture? But I'm trying to keep my request more open: is there any Linux distro that will work with this ancient of architecture AND provide touchscreen "usability"?
(by "usability" I mean on screen selections are meant to be made with an "inaccurate finger")
Thanks!
