display problems with Philips Brilliance 180P^2

Ok, sometimes when I load linux (this never happens in windows XP) i get this dumb message: Cannot display this video mode change to 1280x960. I am using 1024x769 24bits. This is very annoying as I have to restart my whole computer and some times I even have to do it 2 or 3 times to make it work. Any ideas anyone?
