I have a Samsung lcd monitor and five cats who are reenacting the war of the rings. The Aragon wannabe marked the screen. The urine ran down to the bottom edge of the screen and then seeped under. There is now a silhouette of Emyn Muil on the bottom one inch of the screen. It has changed shape getting higher and then wider and lower. I have tried blotting it by pressing a tissue down on the frame. Some, but not much, soaked in. I tried heating it gently with a hair dryer. No good.
Any suggestions on how to correct or mitigate this problem?
Or is it only a matter of time til the display goes gunny bag?
Hehe....I've had similar problems, but nothing -quite- like this... What you really should do is try to get the frame off so you can clean it inside. If you cannot reach the places that still are wet, you should leave it somewhere hot and dry (not too hot, obviously), and wait until it is dry before you power it on. Normal water will not do too much harm if the power is off, but there is not telling what catwater will do....
My stupid is a miracle! Okay, If myope me (Think Mcgoo on a bad day and double it) had only noticed. But No-o-o-o I flombered out and hit the switch. Then I noticed the hand of gollum grasping the bottom of my screen. So, so far there have been no electrics fun. Now I will look into how the case comes apart.
Again, Many thanks for the help.

LOL, that's not good. I know I had a bad cat that pissed on my old computer, luckily it missed critical components. It also pissed on the monitor, but it was CRT, and it pissed on the back end of it, so it didn't effect to much. The cat was quite lucky it didn't get electrocuted, it also liked to chew on power cables. If you have a cat like this, try to keep it out of that room.
What color is this spot ? Is is just urine stuck in there or is it discolored ? It it is discolored, it may be permanently damaged.
So I got the frame off and squeegeed it down with paper towels and then gave it a blast with a hair dryer. Now it shows some color. Most of it is black. There are holes in the black to make it look like cumulus clouds. there are edges and bits -- very small-- in greens, yellows and reds.
Above that there are some discrete blobs that look like air pockets between layers of plastic.
at its greatest extent it is 8" wide by 2" high. The part that is so discolored I can't see through it is 6" by 3/4".
Having got the frame off so I can dry the seam between the screen surface and its metal rim I suspect I am cooked.
That will teach me to give a home to an appealing street urchin. Not.
So, hopefully I can't stave the final sinking until the econ stimulus check shows up.
Thanks all!

Hehe, the mother of a girl I was dating some time back were breeding cats (the Persian type with a more impressive pedigree than IQ), and they were sending one little kitten to Switzerland. The process took 3-4 months and cost the new owners almost 5000 Euros, and when they received the cat, it lasted two weeks before having an "accident" with a power cable......probably very irritating...
Animals are not the best companion to cables or electric equipment in general I guess, I myself have a prairie dog that LOVES to -pretend- that he is gnawing away at cables, just to get attention. (Guess he loves the reaction... Never made a mark in the cables, though, even if he has gone through quite a lot of other things with a ferocious appetite... (Then again, he is an adoptee from a bad home, so I guess some nasty behavior is to be expected..
