Disk names

Hello ,

I have a pretty unusual question.

Usually what happens is that when we have multiple disks on our linux box, disks are usually named as hda, hdb , hdc ......, hdz
and for SCSI disks
sda, sdb, sdc, .... sdz.

Can we have a configuration with 4 disks with disk names
sda, sdb, sdp, sdt???

Is it possible? If yes how?

no, devices names are allocated sequentially. you could configure udev to create symlinks for your, e.g. DiskT -> /dev/sdd etc... based on drive serial number, model, size etc...
