disabling pnp in BIOS

i don't have an option for PNP in my bios for O/S. i do however have an i/o config option in there. should i set that enabled, disabled, os pick, auto?

i ask because i am trying to disable php so that my mandrake 9.1 will recognize my sis7012 sound card.

any ideas?

hey everyone. i would like to say a coupel things real quick.

1. thanks to everyone who has helped me out, ESPECIALLY hexbit. you rule man.
2. i have spent 3 weeks working on fixing my sis7012 and here is what i did to make it work.

i'm on mandrake 9.1 with a chip of sis650 and soundcard of sis7012 using the ac97 codec.

my bios is a phoenix bios version 4.0 release 6.0

my bios doesn't have a disable PNP option.

things i did to make it work:

make sure to change the soundcard driver to i810 audio.

in the mandrake control center, i went to the boot config option.

make sure that you have apci enabled and force apic not checked.

here is what my options looked like:

quiet devfs=mount hdc=ide-scsi pci=biosirq apci=on

once i had all that, rebooted, and it worked marvelously.
