Disabling midi on sound card
 

I got a new soundcard, Multimedia audio controller: VIA Technologies Inc. VT1720/24 [Envy24PT/HT] PCI Multi-Channel Audio Controller, but whenever I try to start a program that accesses midi, such as rosegarden, the whole system locks up where the mouse doesn't move and nothing responds. In qjackctl when I try to connect the midi on the soundcard to anything the system locks up.

the sound card came with a midi wavetable daughter board connector and since i dont use it all i need to know is how to disable it

im on suse 10.2...

anything helps :)
