Direct rendering as root but not as user

I am running debian with stock unstable kernel. I didn't have a problem till I upgraded to the new NVIDIA-Linux-x86-100.14.19-pkg1.run

When I run glxinfo as root it says yes for direct rendering.
When I run glxinfo as any user it says no direct rendering.

Try adding this to your xorg.conf file

Section "DRI"
Mode 0666
EndSection

This is supposed to allow root and users to have dri.

if you get errors (works on my slack box)just delete the line again.
