Dim display brightness on dual head setup

Hello all

So the Dual Head Display is setup on my Toshiba Portege M200 running Fedora Core 5 (FC5), the NVIDIA card picks up both my laptop & external Acer AL1714 display.

The only thing is that the display brightness is really dim on the laptop & changes to the acpi/toshiba/lcd make no difference. For example the brightness (see below) was set from 4 to 7.

Here is the strange bit though, when the settings are first setup using the System -> Admin -> Display -> Dual Head tab & the the system rebooted then the laptop display comes up fine but on subsequent boots she remains dim.

Any "bright" ideas on how to change the brightness???

Thx in adv
Graeme

$ more /proc/acpi/toshiba/lcd
brightness: 7
brightness_levels: 8
$ more /proc/acpi/toshiba/video
lcd_out: 0
crt_out: 1
tv_out: 0
