Digital output for audio cds

Hello guys!

I have a LG HL ST DVD/CDR that now is working fine, I can mount cds and dvds and burn cds.
BUT when I insert an audio cd I can't listen the sound!
The player seens to be working (time counting), but no sound can be heard.
When I was on windows, I had to set the cd audio output to digital ion order to make it work.
How can I do this on Linux?

Use XMMS (latest version preferred). It has a audio CD player plugin that supports digital audio extraction!

I too had to select digital output in windows. am not able to get any sound output on linux.
