Does anyone know if the fujifilm finepix 2600 camera with the smartmedia card is compatible? I'm really new to the digital camera thing. If anyone knows another reasonably priced camera that works well please tell too.

I don't know all that much about digi-cams under Linux, mine is a Vivitar, one of the premier "we hate open source" companies, but hey, it was gift. It's also however the only justification for my windows partition any longer.

The biggest open source digital camera interface project I know of is gphoto at www.gphoto.org I know for a fact though that there are several others, many that come bundled on distros like RH and SuSe. The list at gphoto should be pretty comprehensive. It looks like Fugi isn't that well supported.
