Digital camcorder, footage out through USB how?

I do not have a firewire-port in my computer, so I invested in a digital camcorder that also has a USB port.
Now, how do I get my film off the camera?

It's Panasonic NV-DS65, has both firewire and usb and a SD card for taking still images. Now, I'm perfectly happy if I can just get either my pictures or my footage out through the USB cable.

Do I have to mount it manually somehow? I can't think of a program that would even try to import digital video from USB.

Ugh... Never mind.
A skim through the manual said that the USB port is only for the super-useful webcam and still-camera functions. Sheesh, what a ripoff.

Guess I'll have to shop for a Firewire adapter.
