Different Screen Modes Won't Fit Laptop Screen

All,

I am using an HPdv2500 laptop, running Slackware 13.37 64. Also my video driver is NVIDIA 295. (Latest version). Lastly I am using KDE 4.5.5.

My problem, when I compile and run any program that drops to 640x480 or 320x200 the entire view will not show on screen. It chops off about 20% of the bottom of the screen. Also when I run old DOS Box programs they too will not show up completely when I run in full screen mode.

Is this common place or has anyone else had this issue and if so how was it remedied?

Thanks in advance.
Ace

** Update, it appears to be a KDE issue. I have ran a few old games in DOSBox from the prompt prior to loading KDE. The issue didn't exist. Still any ideas for KDE would be greatly appreciated.

The problem, at a guess, is that you have a 16:9 aspect ratio screen, which is filled to full width, and that you are displaying a 4:3 (=16:12) aspect ratio window. If you can set 640x400 (often available on old games) that might sort it.

If not, post your screen resolution and graphics card
